How to Create QR Codes in Bulk from a CSV or Spreadsheet

By QRizeo team · Published 29 October 2026 · 6 min read

Making one QR code is quick. Making 200 of them, one per table, product or attendee, is not, unless you start from a spreadsheet.

This guide shows how to prepare the sheet, how to name the files so your printer or designer can use them, and how to avoid the mistakes that waste a batch.

Plan the content first

Every row becomes one code, and each code holds exactly what is in its first column. Decide what that is before you build the sheet.

Build the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets

  • Put the content in column A and the file name in column B. Leave out a header row, or delete it before generating.
  • File names can use letters, numbers, dashes and underscores. Duplicate names get the row number added automatically.
  • For Wi-Fi, contact cards or UPI codes, make one code in the main generator first and copy its text format into column A.
  • In Excel: File, Save As, CSV UTF-8. In Google Sheets: File, Download, Comma-separated values (.csv).

Generate and download

The bulk QR generator handles up to 500 rows per batch. For larger lists, split the sheet into several files.

  • Upload the CSV in the bulk QR code generator, or paste the rows straight into the box.
  • Pick the colours. Bulk codes use plain colours; for a logo or frame, design a single code in the main generator.
  • Press “Check rows”. Rows that are too long or empty are listed so you can fix them first.
  • Press “Generate all” and download the ZIP. It holds a PNG for every row, optional SVG files, and a manifest.csv that lists each file with its content.

Barcodes instead of QR codes

For stock labels and product numbers, a barcode is often what your scanner or point-of-sale system expects. The bulk barcode generator works the same way: one value per row, an optional label text in the second column, and up to 1,000 barcodes per batch.

It checks every row with the same rules as the single barcode generator (length, digits, check digit) and lists invalid rows with the reason. You can download a ZIP of SVG files or print label sheets for A4 (24, 40 or 65 labels) or US Letter (30 labels). Print at 100% scale (“Actual size”) with no margins.

Mistakes that waste a batch

  • Spreadsheet auto-formatting: Excel turns long numbers into 1.23E+12 and drops leading zeros. Format the column as Text before typing or pasting.
  • Links without https:// or with spaces in them.
  • Very long content per row. Long links make dense codes; shorten them first.
  • Printing the whole run without testing. Print one page, scan a few codes from the start, middle and end, then print the rest.

Privacy

The CSV is read and the codes are drawn in your browser. Your list is not uploaded, which matters for customer links, ticket IDs and internal asset numbers.
