QR Code & Barcode Scanner

Point your camera at a code or upload a photo or screenshot. You see the decoded content and its type before deciding what to do.

Start the camera or upload an image of a code.

You can also paste a screenshot (Ctrl/Cmd + V).

Camera frames and images are processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to scan

  1. Tap “Start camera” and allow camera access, or choose “Upload image” to scan a photo or screenshot.
  2. Hold the code flat and fully inside the frame. Move back if it looks blurry.
  3. Read the result and the safety check under it. For links, check the domain shown before opening it.
  4. Copy the content or use the suggested action.

Why use a browser scanner

Check codes before printing

Upload your downloaded PNG to confirm it decodes to the right content.

Read codes in screenshots

Phone cameras cannot scan a code that is on the same phone’s screen; uploading the screenshot can.

Inspect a suspicious code

See the full link before anything opens. A built-in safety check flags fake payment requests, look-alike bank sites, short links and app downloads.

Supported codes and limits

  • QR codes are supported in every modern browser.
  • Barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, Data Matrix, PDF417) use the browser’s built-in barcode detector, available in Chrome on Android, ChromeOS and macOS. In other browsers only QR codes can be read; the page tells you when that is the case.
  • Images and camera frames are processed on your device and never uploaded.

Questions people ask

Does the scanner open links automatically?

Never. You see the link and its domain first, then choose whether to open it.

Why does the camera not start?

Camera access needs permission and a secure (https) page. Check your browser’s site settings, or upload an image instead.
