How to make a contact QR code
- Enter your full name. It is the only required field.
- Add the details you want people to save: mobile, work phone, email, website, company and job title.
- Add an address only if people need it; every extra field makes the code denser.
- Scan the preview. Your phone should show a contact card with a “Create new contact” or “Save” button.
- Download SVG for business-card printing so the code stays sharp.
Which fields phones import
- Name, phones, email
- Imported by every phone we know of. Write phone numbers in international format (+91 98…) so they work abroad.
- Company and job title
- Saved in the organisation fields on iPhone and Android.
- Website
- Saved as a URL on the contact. Include https://.
- Address
- Saved as a work address. Street, city, region, postal code and country go into separate parts so maps apps can use them.
- Note
- Saved in the contact’s notes. Keep it to one short line.
Where contact codes help
Business cards
Print the code at least 2 cm wide. With an address and note, go to 2.5–3 cm, since vCard codes are denser than links.
Conference badges
People save you while talking, without swapping cards.
Shop doors and vehicles
Customers save your number and opening details for later.
CVs and portfolios
Recruiters can save your details straight from a printed CV.
Limits
- Details are fixed once printed. If your number changes, you need a new code.
- Photos cannot be included; they are far too large for a printable QR code.
- The data is readable by anyone who scans it, so leave out anything you would not print on the card itself.
Questions people ask
Which vCard version is used?
vCard 3.0, which iOS, Android, Outlook and Gmail all import correctly.
Why is my code so dense?
Each field adds characters. Remove the address or note, or print the code larger.
Can I add social media profiles?
Add your main profile as the website. For several links, use a separate Multi-URL or social media code.
