How to create an ITF-14 barcode

  1. Start with the GTIN-14 for the case. It is usually built from the product’s EAN-13 with an indicator digit (1–8) in front, and a new check digit.
  2. Enter the first 13 digits; the check digit is calculated.
  3. Download SVG and print at full size. The frame around the bars (bearer bars) is included.

The indicator digit

Indicator 1–8
Identifies different packing levels of the same product, such as a case of 6 and a case of 24. You choose and document these.

Uses

Warehouses and distribution

Rules

  • Generating a barcode does not register a product number. Barcodes sold through retailers need numbers issued to your company by GS1 (or your country’s GS1 office).
  • ITF-14 should not be scaled below 50% of its nominal size on cardboard.
